Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

AniShiro (“we”, “us”) operates this website and the AniShiro newsletter. For any privacy question, contact us via the contact page or at contact@anishiro.com.

2. What we collect

• Newsletter signup: your email address, used only to send the newsletter you asked for. We never sell or share subscriber lists.
• Contact forms and email: the information you choose to send us, used only to respond.
• Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) used for security and to keep the site running.
• Theme and language preference: your Day/Night choice and selected language are stored in your browser and never leave your device except to render the page in that language.
• Account (optional): if you create one, we store your email address and your anime and manga list — the watch status and rating you set. Without an account, that list stays in your browser only. Accounts are handled by Supabase as our processor, and each account can only ever read its own list.

3. Cookies and similar storage

We only set what the site needs to work: your language, your theme, your signed-in session, and your cookie choice itself. These are necessary and cannot be switched off while you use the site.

Nothing for analytics or advertising is loaded unless you allow it. The banner offers rejecting as plainly as accepting, and you can change your decision at any time via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.

4. Advertising

AniShiro is built to support clearly-labeled display advertising. Advertising is not active yet. When it is switched on, ad cookies will only be set after your consent, and choosing “Reject” means no personalised advertising. Ad placements are always visually labeled as advertising.

5. Analytics

We prefer privacy-respecting, aggregate measurement and do not build individual behavioral profiles of readers. Analytics only runs if you allow it.

6. Your rights

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the link in every email. If you have an account, you can delete it yourself at any time on the account page — that removes the account and its synced list permanently. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/EEA under GDPR), you may have additional statutory rights, which we honor.

7. Data retention

We keep subscriber emails while you are subscribed, and delete them when you unsubscribe. Account data is kept until you delete the account. Contact correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your request.

8. Services we use

Hosting runs on Vercel, and accounts and stored content on Supabase. Emails such as sign-up confirmations are sent via Resend from our own domain. Anime and manga information comes from AniList and MyAnimeList; synopses shown in a language other than English are machine-translated and labeled as such. Each of these providers processes data on our behalf under their own terms.

9. Third-party links and embeds

Articles link to original sources, and trailer cards may embed videos from YouTube. Embeds use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and only load once you press play, so nothing is requested from YouTube until you choose to watch. Those services have their own privacy policies once you interact with them.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes affecting newsletter subscribers will be announced in the newsletter itself.
