Dans une Terre post-apocalyptique, l'eau est devenue entièrement toxique, à l'exception de certaines conservées en sécurité dans un réservoir. Une zone fortifiée a été créée par un homme nommé Sanga, qu'il appelle The Lastland. Un groupe de villageois a découvert de l'eau potable, et Sanga le veut. Lui et sa bande de tueurs vont tuer tout le monde et le voler. Comme ils le font, un homme mystérieux surgit de nulle part, tuant instantanément certains des hommes de Sanga. Son nom est Kenshiro, et il peut battre n'importe quel homme avec son art martial, Hokuto Shin Ken. Sanga fera tout pour l'eau, et Kenshiro fera tout pour essayer de l'arrêter.
