Die Geschichte von "Ring of Gundam" spielt in einer neuen Ära, lange nach den Ereignissen der ersten Mobile Suit Gundam-Serie "Einjähriger Krieg". In dieser Weltumgebung schwebt nun ein riesiger 600 Kilometer breiter Ring in der Mondumlaufbahn. Ein Mitglied der Erdföderationsstreitkräfte namens Eiji entdeckt ein Objekt namens "Beauty Memory", das in einem massiven Felsenbett in großer Höhe auf der Erde vergraben ist.
